Important message about workforce changes in the federal government

FEDVIP Coverage Continues Into Retirement
When you retire, you get the same benefits you have now as an actively working employee. Your premiums also don’t go up because you’re retired. There is no requirement to have your FEDVIP coverage for five (5) years of continuous enrollment before you retire to keep your eligibility. Your FEDVIP coverage automatically continues into retirement.

No Extension for FEDVIP Coverage
Be aware that you cannot continue your Federal Employees Dental and Vision Insurance Program (FEDVIP) coverage if you leave Federal service. Under FEDVIP, there is no extension of coverage, temporary continuation of coverage (TCC), spouse equity coverage or right to convert to an individual policy (conversion policy).

Deferred Resignation Program Administrative Leave
If you are on administrative leave, your current FEDVIP coverage automatically continues.

Reinstatement of Coverage
If you recently left the federal workforce and you have confirmed with your agency that you will be returning to an active pay status, please send BENEFEDS an email that includes your first and last name to request reinstatement of your FEDVIP dental and/or vision coverage. If you prefer to speak with one of BENEFEDS customer service representatives, please call 1-877-888-FEDS (1-877-888-3337) TTY: 711.

If you're relocating, visit the Dental page and type in your ZIP code to see if Humana, under FEDVIP, is offered in your area, view the Humana plan highlights and corresponding premiums.
